Flowers blooming in the Winelands

Baie dankie vir almal wat ons Opedag bygewoon het! Die weer was lekker sonnig, die plante was baie mooi en die kos was heerlik! Nog ‘n perfekte dag in die Wynland!
Orthosiphon labiatus, commonly known as the “Shell Bush”, “Pink Sage”, or “Pienksalie”, is in blom en lyk pragtig. The scientific name is derived from “Ortho” – erect and siphon – a flower tube, alluding to the erect flower tube and “labiatus” – meaning lipped, is also a reference to the flower. The pinkish-mauve flowers appear from November to April. Pink Sage is semi-deciduous, losing some of its aromatic leaves in winter. This fast-growing, indigenous shrub grows in full sun or semi-shade and reaches 1.5m in height. Provide rich, well-drained soil, regular watering and fertilizer for optimal results. Prune well after flowering to encourage more compact, leafy growth.
Our Lampranthus aureus and coccineus are on the verge of bursting into bloom. Plant them now, in a sunny, well-drained position to enjoy their colour for the longest time!
